Serenity Holland

Serenity was a bright and bubbly 7 year old, she was intelligent and loved to twirl and flip all over. Serenity was the youngest of 7 siblings that loved and adored her. After spending time with one of her older sisters, Serenity got into the car with her mother and niece (4 days older than Serenity), not knowing that it would be her ride. Serenity mom’s car was hit from behind by an reckless driver doing 95 mph in a 65 mph zone, the reckless driver was also driving with revoked license from a previous DUI. Serenity was rushed to the hospital with brain swelling, 2 hours laters doctors stated that they did all that they could and that Serenity was no tgoing to make it. 2 days later Serenity was pronounced brain dead. Serenity leaves behind a grieving mother, father, siblings, grandmother, aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Serenity’s precious life was taken because someone believed that they did not have to follow the rules of the road and the instructions given to them by a judge. Also, because a parent enabled their adult child with a revoked license to drive by puttingthe car in the parent name so that their son could continue to drive with a revoked license. Leading to the death of Serenity.

Serenity was my only little sister and I will continue my job as a big sister and fight for Justice for her and all of beautiful souls like her.

According to Florida State Statue 322.36 – Permitting an unauthorized operator to drive, is only up to 60 days in jail, up to $500 in fines and 1 year license suspension. I can’t understand or believe that this is a sufficient punishment for someone that handed out a weapon – fully knowing that the person is unlicensed. My mission is to get a bill written to get this changed, the scale between the value of life and the weight of consequences is unbalanced. The value of Serenity’s and other beautiful souls like her deserve a voice.
