Stacy’s Story

On July 19,2012 our lives were forever changed. Just a few feet from her front door, Stacy was hit by a drugged driver in Auburn, WA. She passed away 32 days later after suffering a traumatic brain injury and several broken bones. Stacy was an amazing teacher; she put her whole heart and soul into it. She ensured every student felt safe and loved and knew she was invested in their future. She was truly changing the world with every life she touched. Stacy’s death was 100% preventable and she will be forever missed by all who loved her. The DUI repeat offender that killed Stacy was sentenced to 102 months in Jail. He was released after 5 years for good behavior and has since re-offended twice. Stacy’s family continues to advocate for stronger laws in Washington State and share her story every chance they get.
