Stacy Moermond, Jr., 23, was killed by a multiple repeat offender drunk driver while his two young sons watched in horror from the inside of their car. Stacy was filling a gas can when he was struck and killed by a drunk driver who had been drinking at a BBQ all day, then a bar before he got in his truck to drive home. The driver, instead of rendering aid to Stacy after the crash, took the time to smoke a cigarette while waiting for the police. The perpetrator received the maximum sentence of 7 years, in Ohio, with no early release and indefinite license suspension.
Stacy was a beloved son, a husband, a brother, a nephew, a cousin and a wonderful father of two young boys. His sons will have to live with the memory of how their father died for the rest of their lives.
