Randall and Eli’s Story

This is my youngest son, Randall (31), and his middle son, Eli (11), my grandson.

They were on their way to the store—nothing out of the ordinary, just a quick trip to pick something up. None of us knew it would be the last time we would ever get to talk to them.

Around 8 p.m. on 09/13/2024, a drunk and high driver, Amanda Fleming, left a party at the Crestview Country Club. She got on the highway going the wrong way at a high rate of speed and hit my son’s car head-on, killing my son and my grandson instantly. In that moment, my world shattered forever.

My son was a kind, hard‑working young man with a young family. He left behind a wife and three other children that he loved more than anything. I miss him every single day.

My grandson Eli was a good kid—only 11 years old—and had just started learning the trumpet. He was an amazing young man with his whole life ahead of him. I miss him so much.

There should be no acceptable “legal limit” for drinking and driving. There should be serious laws against over‑serving alcohol in bars and country clubs. That night, she killed my son and my grandson. She died too, and left behind her own husband and children.

I don’t know for sure if she had other DUIs, but I am quite sure it wasn’t her first time driving under the influence. It was her last—and it took my babies.

Please: don’t drink and drive. Don’t text and drive. Pay attention. Look out for our babies, for everyone’s families. One reckless choice can devastate a whole world.
